Restylane is a trade name for a dermal filler. This injectable is nothing more than simple hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in all animals. What makes it work great as a dermal filler is that it is highly attracted to water and will hold water under the skin surface. This water fills in the wrinkles, and it looks and feels soft and natural.
It is also fairly long-lasting, and many people will find the results lasting eight months to a year before needing a re-treatment. And, as you can imagine, since it is so natural, there are very few side effects. Occasionally, there may be bruising or swelling that lasts a day or two, but that's about all. There have also been some rare hypersensitivity reactions. |
Juvederm
Juvederm is another trade name for a different brand of hyaluronic acid. The technique, uses, and results are very similar to Restylane.
